Day 1 — Welcome in Roses
Participants arrive in Roses and settle into their accommodations, either with local families or in a hotel. After room assignments, they enjoy a welcome dinner where they meet the rest of the group and the organizing team.
Day 2 — La Vajol and the Last Republican Refuge
In the morning they attend three hours of Spanish classes at Prestige Idiomas Internacional, accredited by the Instituto Cervantes. After a picnic lunch, they head to La Vajol to visit the Coll de Lli, the Negrín mine —where works from the Prado Museum were hidden— and the Minister’s House, retracing the final steps of the Republican government before crossing the border.
Day 3 — Deepening the Retirada at the MUME
After breakfast and another three hours of Spanish, the group travels to the Museo Memorial del Exilio (MUME) in La Junquera. There, through original documents, photographs, and personal items, they experience the drama of the Retirada of 1939 and the exodus of hundreds of thousands of republicans into France.
Day 4 — Figueres, Dalí and the Civil War
The day begins with breakfast and the morning Spanish class. Then the group travels to Figueres for a guided tour of the Dalí Museum, exploring Salvador Dalí’s surreal world and his connection to the city. After the picnic lunch, they visit the air-raid shelter at Plaça del Gra and the Rambla of Figueres, witnesses to the bombings during the Civil War.
Day 5 — Collioure and Tribute to Antonio Machado
On the final morning, after breakfast, they visit the tomb of Antonio Machado and the foundation in Collioure, discovering the story of the exiled poet. After one last picnic lunch, they begin the return journey, concluding a program that combines language learning with historical remembrance.
